Samhain Day Retreat

Samhain marks the time when the veil between the realms of the living and the dead is at it’s thinnest. At autumn’s end, the harvest has been gathered and stored for the winter, and we gather together to give thanks for, all that has come to pass. Gather in Circle with us this November the 1st to honour your path, and those that have walked their path before you.

This Samhain, we invite you to join us in connecting to our ancestors, both of land, and of lineage, to give our thanks for the fruits we have gathered in this life.

This is the first in a full year’s calendar of Sabbat events with Serpent and Moon.

We welcome you to join us in connection and celebration at this sacred time!

Your Day Retreat will include:

• A welcoming Circle to set an intention for your day, and the opportunity for sharing stories of loved ones no longer with us, our more ancient ancestors, (ancestors of lineage) and the landscapes that nurture us (ancestors of land). This will include a light seasonal snack and a warm beverage.

• Creating a small ancestral altar to hang on your wall at home, giving space to honour your ancestors in your own practice.

• Working with mugwort, a plant associated with the Dream realm and the realm of our Ancestors. Create your own mugwort bundle to smoke cleanse with, and connect to her magic with a mugwort tea.

• Oracle cards to connect with the energy of this potent time.

• Drum journey to connect with your ancestors, followed by a sharing circle.

• An introduction to ink scrying, an ancient form of divination. Includes a gift of handmade scrying ink to keep.

• Storytelling by the fire, with traditional soul cakes and spiced apple cider.

• Plant based seasonal lunch (with optional dairy) included in your day, along with a selection of teas and coffee.

Our retreat venue is The Meeting Rooms on Heslington High Street, York. This former Wesleyan Chapel has a beautiful peaceful atmosphere, is fully accessible, and has a lovely garden space where we can gather around a fire. 

On street parking is available, but please consider lift sharing or public transport. 

Please dress warmly as some elements will take place outdoors (weather permitting).
